Pilot: Ulrich Muñoz, CO
Description: Enters ok and it stabilizes in low motion
Epsilon
3, 26
(DHV 1-2/ 78-95kg /TOW: 88kg)
Pilot: HAC Chris, France
Description
Entry:
A lot of brake and weight shift required. Enters smooth in 1 turn.
No collapses.
Description
Exit:
Little collapses if you don\'t brake the outer side.
Epsilon

Pilot:
Harry Gergits, Austria
Description
Entry: Progressive, a lot of brake input + weight shift required.
Description

Epsilon
4, S
(DHV 1-2)
Pilot: Harry Gergits, Austria
Description Entry: A lot of brake input needed
Description Exit: collapses, very easy to prevent
Omega
4 -25
(DHV 2-3 / 75-90kg /TOW:
100kg)
Pilot: Yigit Yildirim, Turkey.
Description Entry: Very hard to enter. A lot of break and
also full weigthshift is needed.
Description Exit: Fast. easy
*If you try a sat you can make it, but for sure it is not the
best glider for sat. Overall: only pilots who already know SAT should
try SAT on this wing, it is not a wing to learn SAT.
Omega
5, L
(DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Vagelis, Greece
Description Entry: need s a lot of brake & weightshift. Enters
really slow & smooth. Keeps the wing pressure very good, no tendency
to colapse the winglets.
Description Exit: smooth. Needs brake on the outside
* easy to try sat
Sigma
4, S
(DHV 2-3/65-85kg)
Pilot: Salman Amiri, Iran
Description Entry: some little body position. Entry is somewhat
fast, if you enter correctly it doesn't collapse.
Description Exit: it has a little speed, and dives forward.
*for long brake, we must use a lot of break. It is a slowly wing
in the manoeuvers.
Sigma
4, S
(DHV 2-3/65-85kg/TOW: 75k)
Pilot: Marieke Six Dijkstra, Netherlands
Description Entry: Easy entrance but at first the glider
turns quite violently.
Description Exit: Smooth exit but overshoots if you don\'t
turn to kill your speed.
Sigma
5, 25 (DHV
2 /75-95k)
Pilot: Salman, Iran
Description Entry: enters easily, with weightshift to help
for easy entry. The wing is in this manoeuver very firm.
Description Exit: we must prevent the dive in the exit time.
*The wing to have need for inter to very brake and it is better
to use of weight that speed turn to be very much. (?)
Sigma
5,28, (DHV 2/85-105 kg/ TOW: 95kg)
Pilot: Zotti, Germany
Description Entry: Smooth Entry, Much Brake Power , 1,5 turns
of inner brakeline around wrist because long steering travel, extreme
bodyshift, no collapses
Description Exit: smooth, Sigma is no dynamic glider, no
collapses, accelerates moderately to 12 m/s spiral, but in spite
of that 150m height loss for total exit!!Don´t SAT in low
heights!!
* Simply perfect glider for SAT, was my first two SAT`s with
professional teacher radiocontrolled over lake.

Airwave:
Magic
M (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Jordi Maquillas, SP
Harness: X-Over
Description Entry: Progressive, a lot of brake input required. It
stays easily once stabilized
Description Exit: usual collapse of wingtip.
* Very hard braking during the stabilized manoeuvre.
Magic S (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Harry Gergits, Austria
Description Entry: Progressive, a lot of brake input required.
Description Exit: usual collapse of wingtip, easy to prevent
Macro
Pilot: Michael Fernandez, Peru
Description Entry: enters on its own but it's violent, although
goes out easy if you continue into a spiral.
During the manoeuver you must be careful to not overweightshift, as
the more weight the more agressive is the glider.
Exit:smooth
but it can be quite sudden if the gliders has a lot of weight.
*Not for novice pilots as it's a piece of flying machine! But it
can be used for cross in hard conditions. It's fast, careful with your
feet...
Micro 19m2 (NO DHV)
Pilot: Manu, Austria
Description: The Micro does any figures by the exit but it desn't
collapse. After the SAT I`m always flying an assymetric Spiral!
*It`s a very funny glider. It`s easy to learn acrotricks on it because
it has a big dynamic and its very fast!
Scenic(Tandem,
DHV 2)
Pilot: Luis Munarriz, Perú
Description Entry: The Sat entry is more comfortable starting
from the negative point or from a spiral, which is definitely harder.
No need for heavy weight shift but you have to help with the risers
at the entry. Very stable, doesn't collapse. Smooth, for a tandem.
Description Exit: violent exit with tendency to lose pressure
on the oppossite side. No tendency to collapse if you keep some reserve
of brake control.
* At the entry of this manoeuvre, it's important to know that the
negative spin comes sooner if we apply too much brake. If this happens,
you just have to release the brake a bit and continue with the entrance
-it's much more stable. Don't forget that the entry in Sat will depend
a lot on the passenger's weight.
Sport L (DHV 1-2)
Pilot: Jan Voegeli, USA / Swiss
Description: Smooth, no collapses
Sport
S (DHV 1-2/65-85kg/TOW: 75kg)
Pilot: Michel Verhagen, Netherlands
Description Entry: SAT entry is
very easy. Timing doesn't matter that much, if you're too late, just
pull more break. Too soon will spin the glider (of course), but it doesn't
really do any harm (it's a very safe 1-2 glider). Entry into SAT is
smooth if the timing is right, otherwise, watch your neck! No collapses,
very stable once in SAT position.
Description Exit: Very smooth, don't
forget counter steering when exitting, otherwise it will immediately
nose down spiral. Just tiny collapse on lower tip on SAT exit. A little
brake there might do the trick.
* Yeah, don\'t do it too often. Keep a close watch to the stitching
on the top middle of the glider. |

Bagheera
M (DHV 2 / 85-105kg / TOW: 105 kg)
Pilot: Greg, Canada
Description: WILL NOT SAT
Bagheera XS (DHV 2)
Pilot: Walter Neser
Description Entry: If you lose the tip, try entry with more speed.
Description Exit: Fast exit with usual closed tip, easy to prevent.
Futura 38 (Tandem/120-160kg/TOW:
167kg)
Pilot: Walter Neser, Israel (South african)
Description Entry: Passenger assisted weight shift.
Description Exit: Spontanious recovery. Usual tip closure, easy
to prevent
*Also good for Rythmic/Dynamic SAT - Who is strong enough for a Tumble...?
Keara M (DHV 2)
Pilot: Andreas Munting
Description Entry: Tends to collapse tip if entered too slowly
Description Exit: Abrupt exit into spiral with plenty of energy
for the next manoeuvre.
*No weight-shift needed once in.
Simba M (DHV 2 / 85-105kg
/ TOW: 105 kg)
Pilot: Greg, Canada
Description: WILL
NOT SAT
Simba S (DHV
2)
Pilot: Cesar
Acon, SP
Harness: Advance Winner
Description Entry: Between half and 3/4 of a turn. I didn't notice
a sudden entrance, the only thing is that I had to lean on the downside
riser to keep my balance and a right position. It didn't seem to need
much effort on the brakes to keep the Sat, but I did it only a few times
and with all the stress you have on the first attempts... maybe I'm
not the best to report this... Once stabilized the sensation is that
it accelerated a lot, maybe it's possible to slow it down a bit. I had
small collapses on the inner wingtip.
Description Exit: You exit to a spiral just by releasing the
wing you were holding in. It seemed the easiest part of all to me.
* I only tried it 3 times... I better practise more!
Simba S (DHV
2)
Pilot: Walter Neser, Israel (South Africa)
Entry: Best with a high speed entry
Exit: Fast exit with plenty of energy
Simba
2, S (DHV
2)
Pilot: Marcelo Pairoa,
Chile
Entry: Enters in a pseudoSAT very
centrifugated and more similar to a down spiral with a high descent
rate, so I wouldn't call it a Sat. I could only make it bank a little
from the horizontal position of the canopy after the spiral and slower
the descent. With a lot of brake it loses energy and stops turning or
can enter in a spin (no twists). During this pseudo-sat it's very stable
with a lot of pressure on the brakes. Weightshift only to acomodate.
Exit:
La salida es con velocidad y sin problemas
*Play other acro tricks like helicopters, loopings and McTwists;
very dynamic and good-natured.
Tigra S (Competition)
Pilot: Jan Voegeli USA / Swiss
Description: Very narrow window to Sat.
*Wing is not very suitable for SAT's. |
|
Calipt'Air:
Vectis
M (DHV-2)
Pilot: Ulrich Muñoz, CO
Description: I
could not SAT it.
* All
the outer wing collapsed. |
|
Edel:
Promise
XS (DHV 1-2)
Pilot: Anthony Adams, Chile/UK
*SAT enters easily and handling is easy. Pretty much like the Target
but with more energy... probably due to excess weight.
Promise M
(DHV 1-2)
Pilot:Ulrich Muñoz, CO
*Enters ok and stabilizes slowly
Millenium 2000, S (DHV
3 / 65-85 kg / TOW: 92kg)
Pilot: Bernd Hornboeck, AU
Description Entry: I always use full weight shift to inner
side; enters SAT without problems; no collapses. I fly over the weight
limit, that's why entry is a little bit more aggressive.
Description Exit: I always take back weightshift and use hard
short brake input on the outer side to stop the SAT immediately; light
collapse during exit.
Millenium
M (DHV 3 / 80-105kg)
Pilot: Bernd Hornboeck, AU. TOW: 92kg
Description Entry: I always use full weight shift to inner side;
enters SAT without problems; no collapse if timing correct.
Description Exit: I always take back weightshift and use hard
short break input on the outer side to stop the SAT immediately; light
collapse during exit.
Pilot:Ulrich Muñoz, CO
*Enters ok and stabilizes slowly
Response M (DHV
2-3 / 75-100kg/ TOW: 92kg)
Pilot: Bernd Hornboeck, AU
Description Entry: I always use full weight shift to inner side;
enters SAT quite quickly and with a lot of speed. No collapses.
Description Exit: I always take back weightshift and use hard
short brake input on the outer side to stop the SAT immediately; light
collapse during exit.
*The entry is quite aggressive - not for unexperienced first-time-SATters.
Sector TX, M (Comp
Proto)
Pilot: Humberto Alvarez Jimmy, Colombia
Description Entry: Smooth and fast, it doesn't need much body
weightshift. During the Sat, its behaviour is pretty smooth and stable.
Description Exit: Tends to collapse the opposite side, but not
too hard. |
|
Cult
M (Competition / TOW: 100kg)
Pilot: Yigit Yildirim, Turkey
Description Entry: Small brake is enough to enter the sat. No
extra body position only normal weightshift. There is tendency to spin
so when you establish the bank you may want to release brakes a little.
Tips don't collapse, however a 50% collapse may occur.
Description Exit: quite smooth. Outer side needs to be controled
for the collapse. Always minimum amounth of brake should be used. Excess
brakes may cause spin and also fast entering which may lead to a big
collapse and cravat.
* Only pilots who have already know SAT should try SAT on this wing,
it is not a wing to learn SAT.
F -18 Hornet (ACRO)
Pilot: Santiago Baeza, Mexico
Description Entry: enters quickly with little effort, standard body
position (left arm holding left risers and body shifted to the right,
brake at the level of right carabiner), it does not collapse. The Sat
is very dynamic with this glider, very easy to stabilize, fast. Doesn't
tend to collapse during the manoeuvre.
Description Exit: very smooth. Outer side needs control.
* A very dynamic glider, a lot of fun as long as you have the adequate
level to handle so much speed; high sink rate.
F -18 Hornet (ACRO)
Pilot: Jose Herrera, Mexico
Description Entry: Light brake effort. The glider is a bullet! Very
sensitive, communicates a lot through the brakes and the manoeuvre enters
instantly; you just have to follow the theory and it's very easy. During
the Sat you can see it's a glider designed for Acro! Energy retention
is so good that all manoeuvres are very clean. Basic Sat and dynamic
Sat are a game!
Description Exit: comes out quickly and with enough energy to
combine with other manoeuvres.
*It's a glider made for Acro! For an acro pilot it's a toy, but it
can be dangerous for begginners or pilots who don't control it well.

Arrow
M, proto
Pilot: Jan Voegeli USA / Swiss
Description: Smooth, collapse of the outside wing tip.
* wing is not very suitable for SATs.
Oxygen C, M(Uncertified
/85-105kg /TOW 100 kg)
Pilot:Yigit Yildirim, Turkey.
Description Entry: Small break is enough to enter the sat. No
extra body position only normal weightshift. There is tendency to spin
so when you establish the bank you want you may release breaks a little.
No tendency for collapse at all.
Description Exit: quite smooth. Outer side collapses, brake &
also weigthshift is needed to prevent this collapse. Always minimum
amounth of brake should be used. Excess brakes may cause spin and also
fast entering which may lead a big collapse and cravat.
* Only pilots who have already know SAT should try SAT on this wing,
it is not a wing to learn SAT.
Spear
S (DHV 2 / Perfo)
Pilot: Anthony Adams, CL-UK
Description:
It didn't enter immediately, but when I forced it entered in a negative
spin.
*You can make it from a wingover more easily than with a Quarx. |
|
Bandit
S (DHV 2, standard)
Pilot: Jan Voegeli USA / Swiss
Description: Smooth, slight collapse
of the outside wing tip.
*Beginner acro wing
Bandit L (DHV 2)
Piloto: Ulrich Muñoz, CO
* Entry is fine and stabilization comes slowly
Bolero M
(DHV 1)
Pilot: Ulrich Muñoz, CO
* It enters but accelerates a lot and makes many wrinkles on the
outer side.
Bonanza S (DHV
2 / 75-85kg)
Pilot: Veso, Bulgaria
Description Entry: some colapse, hard brake, more body
Description Exit: easy out
* it\'s not very good for sat
Bongo L (DHV
1-2 / Tandem)
Piloto: Ulrich Muñoz, CO
* Entry is fine and stabilization comes slowly
Boomerang M (DHV
3, TOW: 105 kg)
Pilot: Daniel, Bulgaria
Description: requires plenty of speed to enter safely; doesn\'t
require too much weight shift; doesn\'t require much brake travel, but
requres a lot of force because Boomerang naturally has hard brakes,
outer tip collapses for a second; exit is 100% controlable.
*never pull the brake too much when the speed is low - this leads
to spin and twist and many problems
Gangster
XS (DHV 2-up to 12G/60-80kg/ TOW: 85)
Pilot: Alireza Esna Ashari, Iran
Harness : PXP FREEDOM
Entry: Enters the Sat very easily with little body help and
short brake. Smooth turn and no collapse.
Exit: Easy exit, just releasing
brake, and a very small collapse on the outer side.
* Very nice glider for starting Acro.
Gangster
M (DHV2/85-105kg/TOW 100kg)
Pilot: Håvard Mårstøl, Norway
Entry: Just lean over and push the raiser, take a wrap and aply
10-15 cm brake... wait for the glider to dive...and when it does just
pull some more brake (about down to your chest). I sometimes get a small
colapse on outside wingtip when i enter the SAT.
Exit: easy exit, no spiral dive...
Small collapses on wingtips..
*Easy glider to SAT. Perfect for learning SAT, very safe glider.
Oasis M (DHV
1-2)
Piloto: Jordi Marquillas, SP
Harness: Sup 'Air Profeel 2
Description Entry: Progresive. Regular brake effort. Stabilization
is easy.
Description Exit: Easy, good-natured reactions.
* I only tried it one day, it seemed like a very easy glider to Sat. |
|
Gradient:
Aspen
24 (DHV
2/ 70-80kg/ TOW: 115 kg)
Pilot: Abe Christenson, USA
Entry: This glider enters any SAT
maneuvers very easily, and smoothly, the only time it gets alittle hard
is on the loop entry. SAT's you just have to enter a little more aggresively
than normal.
Exit: this glider is very easy
to exit without any collapses, it makes it look very smooth.
* Try the helicopter on this glider. I have found that it will stabilize
itsef in the heli and stay flat with no wobbles. The only thing is it
has a fast restart when you stop the rotation making it hard for the
twister, but it's still very possible to reverse with alittle finesse.
;)
Aspen
26
(DHV 2/80-105kg / TOW: 95 kg)
Pilot: Kostas Proitsakis, Greece
Entry: Very easy and smooth entry,
no collapses.
Exit: Very smooth exit, no collapses.
* Double inner brake wrap helps a lot.
Aspen
28 (DHV 2/pilot in the middle of the weight range).
Pilot: Dimitris Papadogiannis AKA "Tsouloufis",
Greece
Entry: 2 wrist loops of the inside
brakeline, 1 loop on the outside brake. Pull the inside brake untill
it reaches the harness's carabiner. SAT Enters from spiral after 1st
turn, entry is not too violent. Can also enter from wing-over. No collpases
if brake pressure is sufficient.
Exit: Small collpase on the outside,
needs 2 spiral turns to exit.
* Aspen has long brakes, so the above mentioned loops of the brakelines
on the wrist are necessary to prevent collapses. Also note that the
outside risers have to be kept not only away from the body, but also
BEHIND the body - could be strainfull to the arm :)
Bliss,
24 (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Nahuel Arcuri, Argentina
Entry: smooth, with brake and body weight, progressively.
During the manoeuvre it stabilizes and turns very easily.
Exit: little collapse on the outer side.
Bliss, M (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Jose Herrera (Fabul), Mex.
Entry: Brake is regular and long. Enters slowly in the manoeuvre
and then accelerates. Once in, it's stable and stays totally open.
Exit: normal and progressive, minimum surge.
* It's an incredibly safe glider for a DHV 2/3 level.
Onyx, 24 (DHV 1-2)
Pilot: Nahuel Arcuri, Argentina
Entry: I push myself from one of the risers so I can weightshift
a lot, and then I brake progressively. Once in the sat, the glider goes
stable and turns very easily.
Exit:
smooth, no collapses
Onyx,
26 (DHV 1-2 /75-95kg / TOW: 93 kg)
Pilot: Kostas Proitsakis, Greece
Entry: Very smooth entry, no collapses.
Exit: Very smooth exit, no collapses.
* Double inner brake wrap helps a lot.
Saphir 2000, 26 (Perfo)
Pilot: Paolo Bellezze, AR
Description: It
definitively WILL NOT SAT.
* It
accelerates, collapses... |

Independence
Speed
(Tandem / 140-220kg/ TOW: 180kg)
Pilot: Bernd Hornboeck, AU
Entry: don\'t pull inner side too
early, otherwise it will go negative; enters SAT without collapses;
a lot of speed due to longer lines on the biplace.
Exit: I use hard short break input
on the outer side to stop the SAT immediately; light collapse during
exit.
* Tandem-pilots that are experienced SATters can do it with a passenger;
practice it with another SAT-experienced for the first time. |

EDEN
II, 28
(Standard /85-105kg)
Pilot: Zeljko Vranic Country, CROATIA
Description: Are there smooth exits?! Again, I can\'t compare
much but word \'sudden\' seems more suitable. Usual small collapse of
inner tip...
*I think that you should also ask pilot position in weight range.
Mine is 90kg in 85-110. It is very easy to exit SAT quickly without
much height loss if you strongly pull both brakes after immediate exit.
Maybe it would
be harder if I were heavier on the wing... or not?
EDEN
II, 28
(Standard /85-105kg)
Pilot: Mark, France / T.O.W: 108 kg
Entry: Standard body position,
with weight shift (not extreme). Enters very smoothly if started when
wing makes transition from spiral to spiral dive. Will also accept slow
entry, but it is not as easy. Moderate brake pressure.
Exit: Very smooth - exits into
spiral dive. No significant collapses.
* Good glider to learn on |
|

Argon
26 (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Jose Henrique Herrera, VEN / MEX
Harness: Sky world
Entry: progressive, a bit delayed.
Normal brake effort. Very stable, sinks a bit.
Exit: Easy, however you have to
pull the opposite brake because it takes a while to lose energy.
* A very stable wing, only you should not abuse on the brakes, and
don't expect the glider to recover by its own.
Argon 22 C uncertified
Pilot: Jan Voegeli, USA / Swiss
Description: Smooth,
slight collapse of the outside wing tip.
*Wing is not very agile, not very good acro
wing.
Carbon S (DHV 1-2)
Pilot: Pablo Jaraba, AR
Harness:Sup air
Entry: Progressive and slow.
Little brake effort, regular. The Sat stabilizes easily.
Exit: Easy, good-natured reactions.
Requires body shifting.
Carbon M (DHV 1-2
/ 85-105kg)
Pilot:
Jamie McRae, UK (TOW: 103kg, top end)
Entry: Nice entrance, high brake
pressure, recomend wrap.
Exit: exit easy, into spiral usually.
no collapses.
* Use wrap, be carefull not to spin though. Nice glider to learn
SAT
Krypton 21 (competition)
Pilot: Jan Voegeli, USA / Swiss
Description: WILL NOT SAT
*Does beautiful wingovers and loops. Excellent XC wing.
Vertex 26 (DHV 2-3
/ 85-105kg)
Pilot: Frank, Venezuela
Entry: requires a lot of
energy for full body shift, enters progressively, smooth
at the begining and then takes more speed, but not too much. Exit is
sudden and you have to compensate with the opposite brake, no collapses.
During the sat is stable until you release the brakes and tries to recover
normal flight.
Exit: abrupt, the wing goes
behind me and then there's a strong overshot, but it doesn't collapse.
*Begginer pilots in manoeuvres shouldn't try to sat this glider.
You have to have enough weight so it will enter with energy and exit
with energy. |
|
Octane,
S (DHV 2)
Pilot: Jan Voegeli, USA / Swiss
Description: Smooth, no collapses
*Excellent beginner acro wing
Proton GT, S (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Jose Henrique Herrera, VEN / MEX
Harness: Sup air Cocoon
Entry: A bit slow, but enters very
well. The brakes are somewhat hard. It stabilizes very well but you
have to keep the pressure.
Exit: smooth and progressive, very
good natured.
* A very dynamic glider. The only flaw is that it needs some time
to obtain energy. Its take-off is slow, and in the air is the same for
the recovery of its normal flight, but at the same time it's a very
safe glider.
Proton GT, M (DHV
2-3)
Pilot: Rainer\"el bicho"\Binek, Perú
Entry: enters smoothly, no collapses,
achieves good energy and the brake gets a little harder depending on
the angle of the canopy. It stabilizes almost by its own, it doesn't
tend to get out of the Sat.
Exit: exis is fast and stable and
it doesn't tend to lose shape.
*A very safe glider for its certification level; only put in hours,
as with any new glider...
Proton, M (DHV 2-3 / 90-105kg/
T.O.W: 108kg)
Pilot: Darron Guberman, South Africa
Entry: Entrance to SAT is fast
as the wing responds quickly. Requires lots of weight shift and firm
brake pressure. Fine line between spin/sat/spiral. Strong tendency for
tip collapse.
Exit: exit is fast but predictable.
*Great glider for loops, not so great for SATs.
Proton, S (DHV 2-3)
Pilot: Arturo Wong, Peru
Entry: Requires a lot of weight
shifting, no need to pull the brake hard. Enters smoothly but has a
strong tendency to collapse the tips. Once in the Sat, it stabilizes
and gives no further troubles, but it is very hard to perform a slow
Sat.
Exit: Sudden, tends to collapse
the wingtip.
* The Proton is a fairly easy glider for learning Sats. It is not
necessary to take it up to the negative point, you can easily make a
Sat from a spiral.
Vibe ML (DHV 1-2 / 85-105
kg / P.D.: 105 kg)
Piloto: Hagen Leschanz, Austria
Entry: Entrance very easy; timing
uncritical. Even with early entrance no tendency to go negative.
Exit: Small (ca 20%) collapses
if you choose a violent exit (full counter - brake). With smooth exit
expect about 19 m/s stable spiral which needs active exit
* Nice SAT - machine ;-)
Vibe MS (DHV 1-2)
Pilot: Yassen Savov, Bulgaria-Canada
Entry: Easy and smooth. Not dynamic.
Exit: Easy and smooth.
*An easy glider to learn the SAT on.
Vulcan
S
(65-85kg /TOW: 88kg)
Pilot:
Torvald Rugsveen, Norway
Entry:
A normal Sat entrance. Enters smooth when brakes are applied increasingly.
A little bit harder to make a clean Sat than with the Vibe MS (which
I learnt it on)
Exit:
Exit is also smooth, only small collapses.
Vulcan, M (80
-100 kg, TOW 105 kg)
Pilot: José Augusto Sampaio, Brasil
Entry:
Between 3/4 and a complete turn I give a little more brake and all body
shift possible. its enough to make it SAT with no tendency to collapse.
It enters smooth if you don´t use too much brake from the beggining.
Exit:
Smooth, with a little tendency to collapse the outer side.
*Very good for beginners. |

Carrier
(Tandem/130-220Kg/TOW
160 to 190 Kg)
Pilot: Tony Adams, Chile
Description:
I enter the SAT from a normal spiral. It enters very easily but requires
a los of brake (nowhere near enough to stall it, though).
Exit: It exits into a spiral and then surges.
*Work out your arms! The heavier the pasenger the better the SAT,
although it lasts about the same.
Target
40 Serial
(DHV 2)
Pilot: Anthony Adams, Chile / UK
Description:
Sat enters very easily, even from a spiral, and in a progressive
way. It reaches high angles of turn, never made 90º
but more than 60º. Control travel is very hard, so much that
I had my elbow injured for weeks due to the uncomfortable effort.
It doesn't need weightshift or inertia. It made it on the first trial,
February 2000.
Relax S
Pilot: Anthony Adams, Chile / UK
Description:
Just like the Target. Sat enters easily and gradually,
reaching high angles of turn. Control travel is hard. It doesn't require
weightshift or inertia.
Titan M (DHV 2)
Pilot: Jose Herrera
(Fabul), México
Entry: enters progressively and stabilizes
easily. The brakes are a bit hard, as it is a heavy glider, but very
safe at the same time. Once you are in the Sat, the gliders stays
in perfectly. You cannot accelerate it to make it rythmic, but the
rest is ok.
Exit:
very
basic, just release your body weight and brakes and it will exit the
Sat.
*A very safe glider, the only thing that surprised me was to find
such a heavy glider these days. It reminded me of the Nova Xenon a
bit.

ATIS
M (DHV 1-2 / 85-105kg/ T.O.W: 97kg)
Pilot: Milos
Krivka
Entry: Requires much less brake pressure than Brontes, enters SAT
almost by itself after 180 degrees of revolution, does not wind up.
Single wrap on the brake and good body posture will SAT the Atis very
easily.
Exit: Will
Snivel tip on exit verry little if not enough brake was used to enter
Sat. Smooth exit can be achived with a pump to the opposite brake. Exits
nice and clean even for novice SATters.
* It is agile, take it easy on the brakes.
Brontes S (DHV2
/ 65-95 kg / TOW: 108 kg)
Pilot: Bobby Ryzhy, USA
Description: easy with any body position, and heavy brake pressure.
Smooth exit.
*Trim the glider faster and pull in stabilo 2 cm.
Brontes
M (DHV 2 / 80kg - 110 kg / TOW: 108 kg)
Pilot: Bobby Ryzhy, USA
Description: Needs good body position, and heavy brake pressure.
Smooth exit.
*Trim the glider faster and pull in stabilo 2 cm.
Fides 28/M (DHV 1 /
90-115/ TOW: 90kg)
Pilot: Walter Neser, Israel (South African)
Entry:
Enters from any speed, requires little weight shift.
Exit:
Spontainious with usual tip collapse - easy to prevent
* Perfect for learning SAT
Flare 24 (80-100kg)
Pilot: Yassen Savov, Bulgaria-Canada
Entry: Requires
extreme weightshift (I had my harness' chest strap custom made - extended
- in order to be able to give the Flare enough weightshift!). Enters
nicely and dynamically.
Exit:
Smooth and easy. Just release!
*This is a very agile glider! Stable too for AR of 6.4. |
|
SKYWALK:
Cayenne
XS (DHV 2 / 60-80kg/ TOW:75k)
Pilot: Marieke Six Dijkstra, Netherlands
Entry: easy entrance: weightshift, increasing brake input, and
there you go!
Exit: The exit is smooth; if you don't brake the outer wingside
a little bit it will collapse slightly but it re-opens by itself. Its
easy to exit, just let go of the brake and move back to normal position.
*Great acro-glider!
Hype
S (DHV
1-2 / 65-90k/TOW: 75k)
Pilot:
Marieke Six Dijkstra, Netherlands
Entry: Easy entrance, very smooth
Exit: Smooth exit, no collapsing.
*Perfect beginner-acro glider, very forgiving yet suitable! |
|
SOL:
Ciclone
S (Perfo)
Pilot: Pablo Jaraba, AR
Harness:sup air Profiil
Entry:
It definitively WILL NOT SAT at all.
It accelerates and collapses. It doesn't stabilize,
tends to negative, accelerates and slowers down.
*Requires a lot of attention from the pilot. |

SWING
Astral 2 26 (80-105 kg / TOW: 97 kg)
Pilot: Vincent DOUILLET, FRANCE
Entry:
Can enter the SAT in less than 1 turn. Will go in negative spin if too
much brake applied. Entrance gets more physical after on turn. Very
smooth entry. Weight shift does not seem to be critical.
Exit: Smooth. Slight collapse with
no consequence. Neutral spin after exit, active piloting is recommanded.
*I learned to SAT with this glider. Nothing particular or tricky.
Do not apply too much brake too soon, one inner hand wrap may help to
apply enough pressure after one turn.
Arcus
3, M (DHV1/1-2 /80-105kg/ T.O.W. 93kg)
Pilot: Arjan Lensink, Netherlands
Entry:
Smooth and easy entry after about 270deg, weightshift and a bit of extra
breakinput. No collapses.
Exit: Ending weightshift + releasing
the break will almost immediately gently get the glider out of the SAT.
Exit within one turn. No further input required.
* Very controlable
Mistral
2 26
(DHV1-2/ 85-110Kg/TOW 105 Kg)
Pilot: Ardy Brouwer,
Netherlands
Entry: Good weightshift into turn
but no extreme weightshift needed, support on riser makes it easier.
Does not need extreme brake power and pitch is easy to control. Enters
smooth and has little tendency to collapse with little brake on opposite
site.
Exit:
Exit is smooth without collapse when little brakepower is put on opposite
site and lead out is not to fast. Had some collapses because of to little
brake on opposite site.
*First time I went negative because I used to much break. Just let
the weightshift make it go in to spiral and then pull the break evenly
untill you see the glider go into SAT. Very easy to control. Within
the first turn you are into SAT. Use other hand to stabalize on riser.
Was unexpectingly easy!
*PowerPlay
Sting (*for paramotor
use/DHV 1-2/ DULV1/140kg)
Pilot: Richard Good, USA
Entry:
Needs a good 270º turn before putting into the SAT. Likes to have
speed before entry. Oh, I do this with a Paramotor, I haven't Paraglided
yet!
Exit: I ease the glider out by slowly releasing the brake to
ensure a slow exit.
*Fun to fly. Easy launch, no brainer. Like it a lot. |

UP
Kantega M (80-105 kg / TOW: 105 kg)
Pilot: Jim Reich, Canada
Description Entry: Enters SAT easily
with minimum weight shift, start with entry to spiral and at 90 degrees,
brake down to the inside hip, initiated SAT every time.
Description Exit: Exits into spiral
requiring opposite brake for quick exit. No collapses.!
*Very maneuverable glider. Caution to new pilots on brake travel
as this "baby" wants to turn!
Summit
M
Pilot: Todd Weigand,
USA
Entry: lots of weight shift and heavy brake pressure
Exit:
easy and smooth
Trango M (DHV 2-3 / 85-105kg /TOW:
105)
Pilot: Greg, Canada
Description: Fairly Narrow SAT window, needs extreme weightshift,
enters quickly / Outside brake required to stop small deflation
* Be familiar with spin/stall recoveries when attempting to SAT this
or any other glider
Trango
S
(DHV 2-3/65-85kg/TOW: 75kg)
Pilot: Michel Verhagen, Netherlands
Entry: Small entry window, timing
needs to be correct. Pretty violent entry if timing is just a little
bit too late. Otherwise, normal SAT entry. No collapses on entry.
Exit:
Smooth exit. Tiny collapse on lower tip on exit. Nothing serious. |
|
U-TURN:
Infinity
M (DHV 1-2 / 85-105k/TOW: 100k)
Pilot: Hartmut Peters, Portugal
Entry:
SAT entry just 1/2 spiral or more, than push more 25 cm inside brake
quickly but not to fast, smooth SAT is so easy to enter, to stay in
and to exit very smooth with this glider, body is moved to the outside,
but does not matter where the body is, it is a stabile manouver, no
collapses, no twisting, nothing.
Exit: You open the outside brake, You come into medium spiral,
exit it, business as usual... very safe!!!
*Best glider for extremely short take-offs, fast in acceleration
(51km/h), direct body control, very easy to use and allways good feedback
to enjoy safe flights. |

Windtech:
Kronos
M (Perfo)
Pilot: Jordi Maquillas, SP
Harness: X-Over
Entry: Progressive to sudden
(more abrupt than the Magic). High effort on the brakes. It stabilizes
easily.
Exit: Easy, good-natured
reactions; requires body shifting.
* Careful at the entry, the line between Sat and Negative is very
thin.
Quarx
25 (Perfo)
Piloto: Anthony Adams, CL / GB
Description: It's possible to Sat
it from a spiral, using weight shift and a strong brake input. It's
easy to keep it in, gets more speed than the Target, but needs less
strenght. If the entry is too sudden it almost throws an spontaneous
tumbling...
*I think this glider has an agressive angle of attack, prone to overshooting
in abrupt situations, which is good for assymetrics and inversion of
turns, but not so good for Sats.
Quarx
II, S (Perfo
/ 65-85 kg)
Pilot: Jan Richard, Norway
Entry: Easy entrance, Brake it
into a spiral and apply weightshift and you\'re there.
Exit: Ease up on the brake and
weightshift and it enters a spiral.
* I think the Quarx II is underestimated as an akro glider.
Silex
M (Competition)
Pilot: Jose Enrique Herrera, VEN / MEX
Harness: X-Over
Entry:
Sudden, it accelerates, and the tip collapses.
Little brake effort. Once in the Sat, tends
to negative spin, gets accelerated.
Exit:
requires weight shifting, collapses, accelerates a lot and demands careful
attention from the pilot.
*The glider has very delicate handling and agressive overshooting.
Take special care in not over controling it - tends to over control.
Serak M (DHV
1-2)
Pilot: Jose Henrique Herrera, VEN / MEX
Harness: Skyworld
Entry: very smooth and quite
progressive; tends to collapse the tips a little. Brake travel is long
so you have to pull a lot and it's relatively hard. Once in Sat, stays
stable.
Exit: Easy, only by releasing
weight shift.
* An excellent glider for manoeuvres, fast, small span and very stable.
Tonic XS (DHV
1)
Pilot: Bego Montellano (MEX)
Entry: Progressive.
When you reach the point, just hold it and you're in! Although I've
been practising some Acro for a short time, this manoeuvre, at least
with this glider, it's incredibly safe! Easy and well-natured. The glider
stabilizes and performs the Sat as if in slow motion...
Exit: very easy, just correct
your body position and the glider enters in a normal spiral, so slow
down your speed and control the surge.
*It's an excellent glider for its level! The performance is great
and it's even good for learning Acro!
Tucan
(Tandem)
Pilot: Jose Henrique Herrera, VEN / MEX
Harness: Sky world
Entry:
requires to gain good speed to enter. Pull hard on the brakes. Once
in, it's very stable, with little collapses on the wingtips; a lot of
energy and speed.
Exit: Easy, light tendency to stay back so you have
to pay attention to the dive forward.
* The manoeuvre is very stable, however, being a tandem, controlling
it is a bit harder. Try it with enough altitude and decision.
Syncro 25 (DHV 2-3/70-95kg/T.O.W:
95kg)
Pilot: Alireza Esna Ashari, Iran
Harness: PXP freedom
Entry: enters into a sat
very easy with a little body and long brake. No collapse, but always
you have a little play on your wingtip and smooth turn.
Exit: with opposite brake,
and pay attention to the dive of glider.
*for exit need to turn so don't do a sat in low altitude.
Pilot:
Rui Moreira, Portugal
Entry: Enters sat very easy, very
smooth and progressive. No collapses.
Exit: Smooth, with little wingtip
collapse. |
|
Taifun
M (DHV 1-2 /
85-105Kg /TOW=108kg.)
Pilot: Darron Guberman, South Africa
Entry: Entrance is smooth and predictable. Moderate weight shift
and brake input. Stays open.
Exit: Smooth easy exit.
* This glider SATs as well as the Octane. I was very impressed with
it on a demo flight.
Tsunami M (DHV 2-3 / 80-105 kg / TOW:
92kg)
Pilot: Bernd Hornboeck, Country: Austria
Entry: doesn't collapse, if you do it right; but the glider
isn't the best for learning the SAT; the 'window' when you have to pull
the inner side is quite narrow - timing is important
Exit: If you just release the inner side and do weightshift
to the outside you end in a deep spiral. If you use 'hard short brake
on the outer side' you get out without ending in a spiral.
* It\'s not the perfect glider for acro, the handling is in my opinion
similar to the Edel Response's. In the meantime I changed to a Millennium
S for acro; I think you know about how to SAT the Millennium, so I don\'t
need to fill out the form for this glider again ;) |
